@UTAMavsVB Ruins ULM Senior Day With 3-0 Sweep

MONROE, La. – The UTA volleyball team swept the Warhawks 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-13) to ruin ULM's Senior Day on Sunday afternoon in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

With the win, UTA pushes their winning streak to 4 matches and improves to 15-10 overall and 7-6 in conference actions, while ULM falls to 11-17 on the season and 1-11 in league play.

"We had two solid, team wins this weekend," said head coach J.T. Wenger. "We played a high-level brand of volleyball, and look forward to being back at home this coming weekend."

Madison Hill and Brooke Townsend led the Mavs with a match-high 9 kills each. Hill also hit .400 with 3 blocks and 3 digs. Petra Manderson chipped in with 8 kills (.421 hitting percentage) and 10 digs. Meredith Fisher finished with 5 kills, 3 digs and a pair of blocks, while Madelyn St. Germain, fresh off of recording her 1,000th career dig at Louisiana, tallied a match-high 23 digs. Kylee Kapp led UTA with 16 assists, while Jessica Stancliff recorded her third consecutive double-double (10 assists, 11 digs).

Trailing 8-7 in the opening set UTA used a 12-3 run to take a 19-13 lead. The Warhawks didn't go away quietly, as Ina Gosen's service ace and an error by UTA pulled the Warhawks within 2 points (22-20), but the Mavericks held on and took set one, 25-21.

UTA started set two with a 10-3 spurt. ULM responded with a 10-5 run to cut the Mavs lead down to 2 points (15-13), but the Mavericks scored 10 of the final 13 points of the set to grab a 25-16 win and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Leading 6-5 early in the third set, the Mavericks used a 13-2 run to take a 19-7 lead and never looked back. The Mavs would cruise to a 25-13 win to secure the sweep.
